Guava Agua Fresca

Guava Agua Fresca

No ratings yet
This guava agua fresca tastes like a Mexican taquería favorite—made with ripe guavas, strawberries, and lemon, fresh and ready in 10 minutes.
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 8 oz guavas (guayabas), trimmed, halved
  • 6 oz strawberries, trimmed, halved
  • ½ cup sugar (to taste), or sweetener
  • ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
  • 7 cups water, divided

Garnish

  • Ice
  • Fresh mint
  • Guava and strawberry, slices

Instructions

  • In a blender, combine the guavas, strawberries, and 4 cups of water. Blend until completely smooth. Strain the mixture into a large pitcher.
  • Add the remaining 3 cups of water, sugar to taste, and lemon juice. Stir well until the sugar fully dissolves.
  • Serve over ice, either by adding ice directly to the pitcher or to individual glasses.
  • I like to add ice to the glass to keep the agua fresca from getting diluted, but adding ice to the pitcher is also a popular option.
  • For garnish, add guava and strawberry slices inside the glass, then finish with fresh mint and a slice of guava on the rim, if desired. Or simply enjoy it over ice.
  • Refrigerate any leftovers. Store in a covered pitcher or individual bottles for an easy grab-and-go option.

Notes

Use ripe, sweet fruit for the best flavor.
Strain the mixture well, since the seeds are edible but quite hard.
Adjust sweetness to taste, depending on the fruit’s ripeness.
Serve ice cold for the most refreshing result.
