Pepinada and Mangonada Drinks
Jump to RecipePepinada
Pepinada comes from the words “pepino (cucumber)” and “Chamoyada (flavored with chamoy).” Yes, our creativity shines when it comes to naming food or drinks. Pepinada is a frozen drink flavored with cucumber, lime, and sugar. Then, it’s combined with chamoy, tajin, and cucumber. In fact, I like to add diced kiwi because of it’s mixed banana, strawberry, pineapple tones. Together, it sure does taste like Mexico in a cup.
Mangonada
Mangonada, chamoyada, chamangos are the few names given to this frozen drink. It is mango sorbet paired with chamoy. There are many ways to make it. But the most popular one has to be mango sorbet with chamoy, and tajin. Then, topped with a tamarind candy stick. Its a celebration of flavors and there is no doubt mangos and chamoy were meant for each other. So delicious!
What is Chamoy?
Chamoy is a condiment sauce used all over Mexico. It’s used to top chips, fruit cups, frozen desserts, agua frescas. If that wasn’t enough, a ton of Mexican candy is flavored with chamoy. This sauce is a sensation! packed with sweet, salty, sour, spicy tones for an explosion of flavors.
What is Tajin?
Tajin is a mixture of lime, salt, and chili powder. In fact, Tajin is simply the brand name. But, I guess the name was well though out because it stuck around. There are many brands to choose from and so many ways to use this precious powder combination. This mix can be sprinkled over chips, fruit cups, agua frescas, candy and much more. Oh! try it on fresh watermelon, its incredible!
